ody}Synchro Motorsport had one of their cars at the press and media day for the launch of the Powertour series. The day comprised presentations introducing Powertour and photo sessions of the cars that had managed to make the day. There were several notable teams, like Bowman and GR, that still had some way to go in order to have their cars ready for the first race at Thruxton in just over a week's time. It is to Synchro's credit that they had managed to get one of their cars ready, with their second car also virtually complete, when the 'full time' teams were obviously struggling. The final hour of the day was a National Saloon test day. Matt Kelly in the much travelled Nissan Primera, turned in the fastest time of the day with Mark Lemmer's Honda Integra second quickest. Surprisingly, James Kaye, in a Barwell Motorsport prepared Honda Accord, turned in a time just one tenth of a second behind the Integra. Synchro Motorsport, with Dave Allan at the wheel, accomplished what they had come to do. Although their session was prematurely terminated with a clutch problem, Dave managed to record a time within two tenths of a second of his best. Even though the car's set up needed attention, Dave was pleased with the Civic. The Powertour's opening show continues at Silverstone next Monday and Synchro are hoping to build on Donington's preparation. Both cars should be ready and it should provide a good platform in readiness for the real action at Thruxton on Saturday week. |
