July 22/23 CROFT (Page 4)
It
is an area that needs addressing by the officials. One solution might
be to make the races
over a predetermined number of laps rather than time. If an incident
should occur, the race
should be stopped with the cars returning to the pits. Once the circuit
is cleared, the race should be restarted with a rolling lap with the
cars in the order they were in when the race was stopped. This would
serve three purposes. It would enable the cars' tyres to warm up and
help to prevent further incidents at the first corner. Also it would
bunch the cars back together which is one of the reasons why the yellow
and black flag has been introduced at present. The rolling lap should
count as a warm up lap and not as part of the race laps. The race meeting
may possibly over run but at least everyone gets their money's worth.
When
the race did resume, Dave slid from tenth to fourteenth after a slide
at Tower, but managed to get back to thirteenth by the end of the race.
Kevin held his twelfth position.
The
next meeting for the Synchro team is at the magnificent Spa-Francorchamps
circuit in Belgium. It is the Spa 24hr race and it takes place over
August 2/6. The next round of the National Saloon Championship is at
Silverstone over the weekend of August 19/20.
