September 2/3 SNETTERTON (Page 3)

For Kevin matters were even worse. On the warm up lap the water temperature soared. By the end of the first lap, Kevin was forced to return to the pits and retire from the race.

Meanwhile Dave Allan was still plugging away and gradually worked his way back up the order. This was aided also by the number of retirements. The race was over thirty minutes rather than the normal twenty and the testing Snetterton track took its toll.

By the end of the race ten cars had fallen by the way side. Dave, with the ailing Civic, managed to grab something from nothing with a remarkable fifth place. Such was the extent of the casualties that had the car been running normally, and here the test session on Friday would have certainly helped, a podium position would have been possible.

There is plenty to do on both of the race-cars before the penultimate round of the series in three weeks time over the weekend of September 23/24. For that round Synchro Motorsport would be returning to Spa, the scene of their finest moment in the 24-hr race just a few weeks ago.
