March 25/26 Thruxton (Page 2)
The Synchro team is under no illusion as to the challenge that confronts them this season. The championship has moved on again from last year with many new teams making an appearance, some of them backed by manufacturers. That, combined with all the advertising that had flooded the market, has raised the profile of the series to a very high level. This would mean the Synchro team would be very much in the eye of the spectators and the national press. Their main objective this year is to make it into the top ten and to make an impression in this illustrious company.

Eighteen cars lined up for the qualifying session at midday on the Saturday. The weather was fine early on but then deteriorated rapidly. Even though the rain had eased for qualifying, the track was still wet.

Kevin Hicks managed a trouble free session and drove well to finish eleventh. Dave Allan though was still plagued by the fuel problem that had plagued him at Silverstone on the Monday and could only turn in a handful of laps before retiring before the end of the session. He was down in fourteenth place and had left himself a lot to do in the race tomorrow.

In an attempt to cure the fuel problem, a new fuel pump was fitted to the car. Static testing indicated that it had made a difference but the real test was under race conditions. The suspension set-up was also adjusted slightly in order to give the car more attack at the tight sections of the track at the complex and the Club chicane.
