Dave's luck had still not changed as, after a couple of steady laps getting used to the pedals, the throttle angle sensor light came on and the power cut out. Fortunately he was able to get back to the pits. The cause was the new pedals but, after the throttle had been adjusted, the clutch started slipping. This was also down to adjustment on the pedals. When the car was ready to return to the track, Dave was in last place and there would only be time for two flying laps before the qualifying session ended. He managed to put in an excellent 1m 34.049 on the first of these laps which jumped him seven places to tenth. On his last lap he encountered traffic, but still put in a 1m 34.202. In
Sunday's race, which is scheduled to start at 1 o'clock, both of the
Civic's had qualified on the left of the grid. This meant that they
would be on the outside of the pack of cars at Clervaux, the first bend.
It is important that a good position is achieved here as the exit is
tight. Sunday started cloudy, damp and cold. The rain had stopped although it looked never far away. Fortunately it held off and by the time of the race the track had dried. It did, though, remain slippery as many cars found to their cost. |
