The race itself was due off at 12.45. Race day, on this Bank Holiday Monday, was sunny and dry and the scene was set for an exciting race in front of large crowds.

Both drivers made good starts. Dave particularly as he found himself tucked up right behind the front runners. At the end of the first lap, Dave was eighth, only 0.3 seconds down on the car ahead. Kevin was sixteenth. As the race progressed, a comforting sight for the team was that the Civic was holding its own. For a long time Dave Allan was close up to Gavin Pyper's Alfa Romeo with Tobia Masini's Honda Integra right behind him. Last season both cars would have quickly dispatched the Civic but it is a different matter now.

The race, for the first time this season, was scheduled for thirty minutes when it had traditionally been twenty. The attrition rate was high and only eight cars finished the race. Two of those eight were the Synchro Motorsport Civics, another superb achievement for the team. It will certainly serve as a boost for the confidence and morale when they resume again at Donington Park in just one week's time.

The final result saw Dave Allan finish in a magnificent fifth place with Kevin, nursing home his Civic with only one usable gear, a fine seventh position.
