Round 4 of the National Saloon
Championship took place at Donington
Park in Leicestershire. The 1.9-mile circuit
features the famous Craner Curves that
require both skill and bravery to negotiate
accurately and speedily.

The Synchro team was unable to make
testing session that took place on the
Thursday, as both Dave Allan and Kevin
Hicks' gearboxes needed rebuilding after
the Oulton Park meeting. Paul Smith, the team manager, was also away in Canada on business. One of Bill Stilwell's mechanics, Andy Lofthouse, as well as the ever-present help of Andy Scott's brother Gary, boosted the team in Paul's absence.

Qualifying was scheduled for Saturday at midday and hopes were high for a good result. The weather was misty and cold at the start of the day but cleared to give a fine sunny day by the start of qualifying.
