May 6/7 DONINGTON PARK (Page 3)

At the start, Boardman and James came together and caused Dave Allan to slow and lose
several places. Kevin was away reasonably well. However, in an attempt to get back up the
field Dave pushed a bit too hard at Coppice on the first lap and spun, dropping to last place.

Kevin also had a spin at the bottom of Craner and lost a couple of places. Dave meanwhile had managed to gain a few places but, whilst in the throes of a tussle with Richard Meins for eleventh place, he pulled off the circuit at the bottom of Craner to retire from the race with a blown engine.

Kevin, meanwhile, was tussling with Paolo Ceci, Rick Kraemer and Desmond Smail. He held his position to the end of the race to come home in ninth place after another round where many of the leading cars had retired from the race. Subsequently Kevin was promoted to eighth as the Stewards disqualified the race winner; Tobia Masini in the Mardi Gras prepared Honda Integra, and excluded him from the result.

There is now a two-week break until the next meeting at Silverstone over the weekend of May 20/21. Bill Stilwell is expected to take Dave Allan's place for this race as Dave is away on business in Japan. There is a lot of work to do for the Synchro team before then as the engine from Dave Allan's Civic needs rebuilding and bodywork damage sustained at Oulton Park on Kevin Hicks' car needs repairing.
