It
had been only a week since the disappointment at
Nurburgring,
but the Synchro Team had been busy
reassembling the cars after many of the parts had been
taken as spares for the 24 hour race. Nevertheless both cars
were ready for the qualifying on the Saturday which was
scheduled slightly earlier this week at 12.15.
The setting was the fine Leicestershire track of Donington Park. This was the second time that the National Saloon Championships had visited Donington this season but this time the race was on the 2.5 mile Grand Prix circuit that included the Melbourne loop.
Saturday was cloudy but generally remained dry although rain was always a possibility. The last time Dave Allan drove in this Championship was also at Donington eight weeks ago. It was not a good race for him that day as his engine blew about half way through the race.
