Kevin arrived in time to make the afternoon session. It was dry but still no warmer than the morning. Kevin put in seven laps and equalled his best time of 2m 13.512 but then had to retire from the session about ten minutes from the end when a slight oil leak was discovered. It was a precautionary measure in light of the engine problems encountered of late. Dave recorded ten laps and again, quite remarkably, knocked a further two seconds off his morning time. This was 3.9 seconds faster than his previous best around the Grand Prix circuit. It was a satisfying afternoons work. Saturday started with heavy rain lasting right through qualifying. Because of the delays caused from previous sessions, qualifying, which had been scheduled to commence at twelve o'clock, started late at 12.34 in quite dreadful conditions. Kevin completed just one lap before he had to return to the pits with visibility problems caused by his glassed misting up. On his next lap he recorded his best time of 2m 29.429. Dave had a more torrid time. He started well and was about eighth before putting his Civic into the gravel at Priory on his sixth lap. By the time he had been recovered from the gravel, the session was at end. He finished back in eighteenth place and has left himself a lot to do in tomorrow's race. Sunday was cold, but sunny. A number of guests had been invited along so it was pleasing that yesterday's poor weather had not continued on into the Sunday. |
